Kindles Gets Improvements

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 11/24/2009

Seattle - Amazon.com announced it improved its newest Kindle e-reader (worldwide, 6-inch version) by offering 85 percent more battery life and a native PDF reader.

The Kindle now has a battery life of up to seven days, even with the wireless feature turned on, compared with four days previously.  Battery life with the wireless turned off remains at two weeks.

The company said the improvement is the result of six months of testing to improve the Kindle's firmware.

The new native PDF reader lets users transfer personal and professional documents, a feature found on several other leading e-readers.
