Griffin Intros MyPhones For Kids

By Lisa Johnston -- TWICE, 11/23/2009

Griffin Technology introduced its MyPhones headphones this fall, designed for children as young as three to use.

The “volume-limiting” headphones feature an over-the-ear construction with an 85db limit. According to Griffin, 85dB is the level that pediatric audiology and safety agencies regard as ideal for kids.

MyPhones are engineered with soft rubber ear cushions, an adjustable band for growing heads, a durable cable and a 1/8-inch headphone plug.

The shell caps are removable and come with three interchangeable design inserts. The inserts can be used as templates for kids to make their own custom-drawn inserts to be placed inside, Griffin said. Users can visit www.myphoneskids.com and upload their own designs or download others.

The headphones package is said to double as a rigid plastic carrying case, large enough to carry both headphones and iPod. The clear plastic shell can also be customized.

Suggested retail is $39.99. They are currently available.
