Casio Unveils ‘Toughest' Digital Camera

Dover, N.J. - Casio introduced Wednesday what it is calling "the world's toughest camera" in the Exilim G EX-G1.
The digital camera was said to have been developed with "endurance engineering as its cornerstone."

The EX-G1, which will ship in December at $300 suggested retail, is the first in the company's new Exilim G camera line and features a 0.78-inch (19.9-mm) slim-line, low-profile, stainless-steel frame design.
The design is said to resist the elements of shock, dirt, humidity, snow, temperature and water.
The camera features 12.1-megapixel resolution and also features such modes as interval shooting and multi-image capture, which utilize the camera's endurance qualities.
Other features include an Intelligent AF function that automatically detects the photo subject and determines the focus and exposure area accordingly.
A landscape mode is included for scenery shots and allows users to choose between the Vivid Landscape option, which enhances only dominant colors. A mist-removal option produces clearer pictures when the atmosphere is misty or hazy.
An interval model automatically takes still photos or movies at fixed intervals, enabling creative shots of outdoor wildlife or active sports photography for activities such as snowboarding or cycling.
A new underwater best shot mode fixes the murky and unclear images taken underwater.
The camera's advanced dynamic photo function creates composite moving images using the camera's high-speed image processing technology. When a moving subject is cut out of a number of images and combined with a different still shot that forms the background, the size of the subject can be changed to suit the background image, Casio said.
The dynamic photo video can be converted in-camera into a motion JPEG movie file.
