Tweeter Brands For Sale
By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 11/17/2009
Atlanta - Nearly one year after Tweeter shut its doors, the brand, and the trademarks of all 12 chains it had acquired, are on the auction block.
According to Christopher Re, business development VP at asset recovery firm Apto Solutions, here, Tweeter's secured lenders analyzed the intellectual property over the past year and determined that the Tweeter name holds value as "a strong brand with a legacy of customer service."
Re said the lenders - comprised of Schultze Asset Management, the chain's final owner, and Well Fargo bank - were encouraged by the $14 million that Systemax paid for Circuit City's intellectual property, and are pleased with the interest being shown in Tweeter.
Bids are being accepted through Nov. 30, and Apto, which also conducted Tweeter's final liquidation sale to the trade, will hold a private auction in mid-December. Brands for sale include Tweeter, Sound Advice, HiFi Buys, Showcase Entertainment, Dow Stereo, United Audio, Douglas TV, Audio Video Systems, Now Audio Video, Big Screen City, Bryn Mawr, Home Entertainment and Hillcrest Audio Video. The properties can be acquired as a group or individually.
Interested bidders can contact Re at cre@aptosolutions.com.

As one of the customers who was screwed over with the Tweeter bankruptcy (they owe me 2,500 deposit money), I hope the name sells, and they have enough cash to pay back the people who were robbed.
I still cant believe its been over a year since this bankruptcy, and they still have my money, and might have it forever. I am sure Schultze is having a great holiday sitting on his millions.

I disagree Dave. The Tweeter name screwed too many people to make a comeback. I know of many customers that were not told that the stores were closing when they purchased products and installation after we were told that we were shutting down. These people were ANGRY to say the least.

I worked at Tweeter for 5 years and it was an amazing experience. I had met alot of great cutomers that shared the same interest as I do in high end a/v. The investment company that bought us was horrible. All they do is buy, close, then liquidate companies. When we all showed up to work the one day in November 2008 and found of that we were definitely closing our doors we were surprised, never mind that we were ordered not to refund and release any product that customers & employees had already purchased prior. If we did were to be arrested and held contempt (something with the courts filing chapter7)We were absolutly outraged with this. Eventually they allowed us to release the product. The final day we were opened there must of been hundreds of loyal faithful customers/friends that had came in the store to with us the best of luck with our careers. Many at awe as for now were to go for not only mid to high end audio & video but KNOWLEDGE and CUSTOMER SERVICE. All thats around here in Mass & RI is Wal-Mart, Sams Club, Bernies,BestBuy. Come on now....Really thats all we have and its a JOKE. If you were to buy something and you went to every store first then finally Tweeter and the price was the same wouldnt you buy it at Tweeter? OF COARSE YOU WOULD. If not well then your one of the very few 2%. If Tweeter was to re-open here I am sure it will be extremely successful with the right staff.

This should be interesting. I wonder how much the "brands" are worth. Any former Tweeter peeps out there?
