Invisible In-Walls Appear In Triad Line

PORTLAND, ORE. — Invisible in-wall and in-ceiling speakers appeared in the Triad Speakers portfolio for the first time.
The Designer-series invisible speakers, intended for distributed-audio and surround-channel applications, fit flush into a drywall or plaster-wall opening, after which they are covered in a thin coat of mud or plaster to hide them from view. The speakers, which fit between wall studs and ceiling joists, consist of multiple transducers attached to an aluminum honeycomb core, which vibrates to generate sound waves. A paper-skin surface covering the honeycomb provides a high-bond surface that adheres to mud or plaster skimcoats, which can be painted over or wallpapered, the company said.
The panels, which require a 25.5mm mounting depth, are also intended for wet or humid areas such as pools or bathrooms.
They’re designed to deliver wide off-axis response to allow for mounting-location flexibility, said sales and marketing director Paul Scarpelli.
The speakers just began shipping at suggested retails of $550 to $1.050 per speaker.
The series consists of three monaural and two stereo speakers. They use one, two or four electromechanical transducers depending on room size to deliver 95dB, 99dB and 105dB SPLs, respectively. All deliver 100Hz to 20kHz frequency response. Three monaural versions for different size rooms are $550, $750 and $1,050 each. Stereo versions for small and medium rooms are $740 and $1,040 each.
