Walmart Holding Week-Long CE Sale

Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 11/4/2009

Bentonville, Ark. - Walmart is getting a head start on its holiday promotions with a week-long CE sales event that begins this Saturday.

The promotion is the first of several planned CE sales events leading up to the holidays, the retailer said.

The first "rollback" sale features a 42-inch Sharp 1080p/120Hz LCD TV for $498, a $298 Hewlett-Packard notebook, and a Sony Blu-ray Disc player, model BDP-S360, for $148.

The announcement follows the first of four pre-Black Friday promotions by Sears that began last weekend.

"Each holiday season we focus on delivering a better price on quality entertainment and electronics, and this season is no different," said Gary Severson, Walmart's entertainment senior VP. "We're excited about our electronics event that starts Saturday. It will be evident through the coming weeks that this year Walmart will offer more opportunities for our customers to save than ever before."

Other CE specials in the Nov. 7-13 sale include:

·         a 46-inch Sharp LCD for $698 and a 52-inch model for $898 (both 1080p/120Hz);

·         a 46-inch Panasonic 1080p plasma HDTV for $788;

·         the Xbox 360 Arcade Console and a $100 Walmart gift card for $199, and;

·         a $29 up-converting Magnavox 1080p DVD player (model DP170MGXF).

The HP notebook features 3GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive and Windows 7 Premium.

Walmart warned that quantities on sale items are limited, and is limiting purchases on certain items to two per customer.

The chain will also post its holiday sales at www.walmart.com/christmasshop.
