PRO Group Partners With CExchange

TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 10/29/2009

Des Plaines, Ill. - The Progressive Retailers Organization (PRO Group) has partnered with CExchange, an online service that allows consumers to trade in their unwanted CE products in return for retailer gift cards.

Devices received by the Addison, Texas-based operation are either refurbished or recycled, which reduces landfill and manufacturer demand for raw materials.

"It's important for PRO Group to find innovative solutions for our members to provide the best products and services to consumers," said Dave Workman, executive director of the A/V specialty buying organization.  "CExchange allows our members to quickly and easily provide real value to their customers for their unwanted electronics, allowing them to more easily step up to the products that they really care about."

"This also provides a valuable solution from a recycling aspect by helping reduce a portion of the millions of pounds of electronics that are unfortunately discarded into our nation's landfills," Workman said.

The program accepts HDTVs, flat panel monitors, laptop and desktop computers, mobile phones, MP3 players, cameras, camcorders, GPS units, radar detectors, handheld gaming devices, gaming consoles, game media, car audio players and car amplifiers, and additional products will be added throughout the next year.

CExchange CEO Scott Nordhaus noted that consumers can receive up to several hundred dollars for their used CE products.

The company's other clients include RadioShack, Systemax, DSI Systems and members of the NATM buying group.
