B&N To Carry Plastic Logic Que

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 10/27/2009

Mountain View, Calif. -The much anticipated plastic, wireless e-reader from Plastic Logic, called the Que, will be sold in Barnes & Noble bookstores, alongside the bookseller's own Nook e-readers, said the companies today.

Plastic LogicPlastic Logic, called the QUEBarnes & Noble is also providing the back-end e-bookstore for the Que, as announced earlier, which gives the Que access to over a million e-books as well as newspapers and periodicals.

Unlike the recently unveiled Nook, which ships in November, and Amazon Kindle, the Que uses a lightweight plastic material the size of a piece of a paper (8.5 by 11 inches). It is aimed at business professionals and it supports Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF and other formats.

Richard Archuleta, CEO of Plastic Logic called Que the "first and only proReader." Plastic Logic said the Que provides access to a "file cabinet's worth of documents including business and professional newspapers, periodicals and e-books.

The Que is scheduled to debut officially Jan. 7, 2010, at International CES and ship early in 2010.

Pre-announced details on the Que include 3G wireless access and the largest e-reader screen yet, exceeding the 9.7-inch Kindle DX. The unit is about a third of an inch thick and weighs less than many periodicals and will offer touchscreen capability, said Plastic Logic.

Pricing on the Que has not yet been announced.

Plastic Logic was founded in 2000 by Cambridge University researchers and has a manufacturing plant in Dresden, Germany.
