Best Buy Adds iMemories Service

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 10/21/2009

Scottsdale, Ariz. - Web-based home photo and video archiving service iMemories said Wednesday that it has reached a deal with Best Buy to exclusively provide a service for converting customers' home movies and photos into digital format.

The new service is now available at www.bestbuy.com/imemories, and will be promoted in Best Buy's retail stores.

Through the partnership iMemories and Best Buy will enable customers to digitally transfer and re-master their personal image media, including family movies on VHS tapes, old film reels, photos and slides.

In addition to digitizing family images, iMemories gives customers private online galleries to view, edit and share images online. Customers also have the option to order archival quality DVDs of those images.

"We knew iMemories would be a phenomenal complement to Best Buy, since they help customers every day with their technology needs and dreams," stated Mark Rukavina, iMemories founder and CEO. "Now with iMemories being promoted across Best Buy's U.S. retail stores and at BestBuy.com/iMemories, Best Buy will be able to bridge America's families to digital living, by transferring a century's worth of old image formats into a crisp digital form that the customer can enjoy on their living room TV, on their personal computers, or just about any other device screen."

A VHS videocassette may have a life span of only a decade before it begins to degrade. iMemories offers a Web-based solution for consumers to store and share their memories, including older media that can be preserved and restored safely into state-of-the-art digital quality.

Once converted to digital form, iMemories' customers can view and share their videos and photos online and create customized DVDs.

iMemories also offers a "watch before you buy" program allowing customers to review transferred images online before making a DVD purchase.
