New York - Home-automation products incorporating wireless Z-Wave technology continue to roll out through major retail channels, with RadioShack launching products nationwide in 4,500 stores following a midyear launch by Lowe's and a late-2008 launch by Fry's.
RadioShack has begun offering Z-Wave-enabled GE/Jasco products as well as Schlage products, including the Schlage LiNK remote home-management starter-kit system. The LiNK starter kit, which enables control of Z-Wave devices from Web-browsing PCs and cellphones, includes a door lock, light module and communications bridge to link the devices to a home Ethernet network for remote access. The system also controls networked security cameras and thermostats. Other Schlage products at RadioShack include lever door locks, deadbolt door locks, Schlage LiNK wireless security cameras and thermostats from sister-brand Trane.
Lowe's also offers the Schlage LiNK system.
Fry's launched Z-Wave devices in nine states with products from Wayne-Dalton, Hawking Technologies and GE.
