Westinghouse Adds New Greenvue LCD TVs

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 10/7/2009

Santa Fe Springs, Calif. - Westinghouse Digital this week expanded its budget-friendly Greenvue line of eco-friendly LCD HDTVs with new 32-inch and 42-inch models.

The new sets are said to deliver up to 20 percent power savings over the Environmental Protection Agency's requirements and Department of Energy's Energy Star 3.0 specification standards for power consumption.

The 32-inch SK-32H640G ($430 suggested retail) features 720p resolution, a 3,000:1 contrast ratio and 450 nits brightness. Westinghouse said the TV consumes less than 1 watt of power in the standby mode and requires 31 percent less power than a comparably sized model in 2008.

The 42-inch TX-42F810G ($700 suggested retail) offers FullHD 1080p resolution and requires 24 percent less power than a comparably sized 2008 model. The contrast ratio is listed at 4,000:1, 450 nits brightness and a 6.5ms response time.

The new models join a recently introduced 26-inch model in the Greenvue series.

Rey Roque, Westinghouse Digital Electric marketing VP, said, "Westinghouse is committed to delivering more efficient LCD HDTV displays that  exceed industry standards and provide the utmost in power reduction and budget savings. All new 2009 Westinghouse LCD HDTVs are Energy Star 3.0 compliant or better, and none of them come with any kind of premium attached.  We believe consumers should not be penalized in their pocketbooks for becoming greener in their purchasing choices."

Models in the Greenvue use 40 percent less packaging materials than 2008 models, to help lessen the load in landfills. The packaging is made of recyclable materials and uses soy-based ink.
