Rovi Products To Connect With Rovi Platform

Santa Clara, Calif. - Rovi said Tuesday that devices using its Connected platform media networking software will be compatible with movies, TV shows, music and photos stored on Windows 7-based PCs.
Rovi said the forthcoming Windows 7 will be the first OS to bring the DLNA device interoperability standard to a mass consumer audience, opening up demand for a range of network devices, including those equipped with the Rovi software.
The Rovi Connected platform is a "Windows 7 `Play To' ready solution," and will enable CE manufacturers to easily embed DLNA networking capabilities into a range of other products, including HDTVs, enabling the seamless sharing of content with the Windows 7 Media Center and accelerating momentum toward a truly connected digital home experience, Rovi said.
Windows Media Center, which is provided with Windows 7, is slated for launch on Oct. 22 and will enable a seamless connection between computers and compatible digital entertainment devices, such as those with the Rovi system.
As for manufacturer partners announcing the support, Onkyo said Rovi Connected Platform-enabled audio/video receivers are Windows 7 Play To certified.
Onkyo's Connected Platform-enabled audio/video receivers (AVRs) include the TX-NA1007 and TXNA5007, both of which join Onkyo's previously released networked AVRs, TX-NAB807 and TX-NR807, which are also powered by Rovi's Connected Platform solution.
