Sirius: FM-5 Improves Reception

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 9/9/2009

New York - Sirius XM said today its new Sirius FM-5 satellite has been placed into service on the Sirius network to improve home and car reception.

Sirius said the satellite, launched on June 30, will particularly improve service in metropolitan areas and when driving under heavy foliage.

The FM-5 is also Sirius' first geostationary satellite, whose fixed position, roughly above Texas, can help users of home receivers aim their antennas at the southern sky to receive a signal on a constant basis, said Sirius XM.
