SunBriteTV Adds 55" Outdoor LCD TV

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 9/8/2009

CEDIA Expo 2009 Atlanta - Outdoor LCD TV resource SunBriteTV (booth 2858) will use CEDIA Expo to introduce its 55-inch 5500HD all-weather outdoor LCD TV featuring an optional add-on Internal Media Compartment.

Model 5500HD will be available Oct. 1 at a $6995 suggested retail, offering FullHD 1080p resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and a design targeting permanent outdoor installation.

The unit is equipped with a corrosion-resistant, powder-coated aluminum exterior that protects the internal TV components from rain, dirt, insects and extreme weather conditions, SunBriteTV said.

"Model 5500HD is a natural fit for system contractors who want to expand their business to include home theater in backyards, patios, and poolside installations," stated Lynn Stearn, SunBriteTV's sale VP.

The unit incorporates the company's proprietary Hex-Fan Airflow System, which keeps the set operationally safe at temperatures up to 122 degrees.

At the other extreme, the an internal thermostatically controlled heater activates automatically when the TV's internal temperature dips to 32 degrees F, allowing safe placement outdoors in temperatures as low as -24 degrees F.

A thermostat-controlled variable fan speed is said to keep fan noise to a minimum.

The panel's contrast ratio is listed at 4,000:1. An anti-reflective, impact- and scratch-resistant window built into the exterior is said to protect the LCD screen while reducing glare and improving picture quality.

In addition, SunBriteTV offers a watertight cable entry system and cable pass-through design, enabling a simplified hook up for inputs, including two HDMI connections, component, VGA, S-Video, composite, RF, RS232 serial and the discreet IR control.

Integration is accommodated with an RS232 serial port and a fiber-optic light path that makes it possible to install an IR emitter behind a water-tight cable door to conceal it from view.

A water-resistant detachable speaker module can be removed when the TV is integrated with an external sound system.

Internal Media Compartment is an in-factory upgrade that customizes the TV to accommodate a Cisco digital media player or Enseo hospitality tuners with Pro:Idiom technology (media players and hospitality tuners are available through their respective companies) in the TV's cable compartment.

The Internal Media Compartment upgrade is available with models 2310HD, 3220HD, 4610HD and 5500HD.
