NPD Names Unser To Head Retail Group

TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 8/11/2009

Port Washington, N.Y. - The NPD Group has named Don Unser to head its retail business group, replacing Bill Lucas, who is retiring at the end of September.
Unser will lead NPD's recruitment, product and business development efforts for its panel of retailer partners. The NPD panel consists of more than 750 retail stores, representing 150,000 doors worldwide. NPD's retailer partners provide sales data for the firm's point-of-sale tracking services.
Prior to joining NPD, Unser was a 20-year veteran at Hewlett-Packard and held a variety of positions with the company.
Most recently, his responsibility spanned the retail, online and contract outbound sales channels across 13 categories, 100-plus partners, 20,000 outlets and contract stationer branches throughout the U.S. Unser managed the company's relationship with all U.S. retail outlets and oversaw sales, finance, marketing and operations of the company's consumer product portfolio.
"Our retailer partners make NPD point-of-sale tracking possible, and we are committed to protecting their investment in our services and delivering value," said NPD president/COO Karyn Schoenbart. "Under the leadership of Bill Lucas, we made important progress in helping our retail partners achieve measurable business results with NPD information. We are pleased to have Don Unser on board to continue this growth."
