Redmond, Wash. - Joining the ranks of other accessories manufacturers introducing PC accessories on Wednesday, Microsoft Hardware debuted its wireless Comfort Desktop 5000.

Featuring a Comfort Curve layout that's meant to encourage natural wrist posture with a slight 6-degree curve, the Comfort Desktop 5000 features an updated soft-touch palm rest; low-profile quiet touch keys; and a contoured, compact shape. The included Wireless Mouse 5000 comes with rubber side grips, an ambidextrous shape and the company's BlueTrack technology.

BlueTrack technology is engineered to let consumers mouse on virtually any surface, including shag carpeting and granite.

Both the mouse and keyboard wirelessly connect to the computer via a 2.4GHz mini transceiver that works up to 30 feet away, the company said.

The desktop set will be available later this month for a $79.95 suggested retail.

Microsoft also announced it created smart one-touch features for Windows 7 "to help people make the most out of their Windows 7 PCs." The new features include Taskbar Favorites, which is said to map to the location of open applications on the improved Windows taskbar; Device Stage, which provides quick access to common tasks like product information, registration and settings; and Windows Flip, providing a thumbnail preview of all open windows with the press of a button.
