Logitech Introduces ‘Unifying' Line Of Wireless Peripherals
By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 8/4/2009
Fremont, Calif. - Logitech today introduced a line of wireless keyboards and mice that use a single micro receiver to pair with a PC.
The Unifying receiver protrudes only 8mm from a USB port, allowing it to be left in a laptop during transport.
The receiver can control up to six Unifying-compatible Logitech peripherals, which automatically pair with the device once it is initially plugged in. To add a new device, Unifying software, available for download at Logitech's Web site, walks a user through a few steps to get it up and running.
Four Unifying-compatible devices were announced today:
The Logitech wireless keyboard K350 features the company's distinctive Wave design, Constant Curve layout and cushioned palm rest, which Logitech said helps guide a user's hands into proper typing position.
Logitech's wireless keyboard K340 is a compact, low-profile — though full-sized — model.
Both feature Logitech Advanced 2.4GHz wireless connectivity with 128-bit AES encryption. The keyboards reportedly offer three years of battery life.
Logitech's Marathon mouse M705 is said to use less than half the power of comparable battery-powered mice, resulting in three years of battery life. It features an ergonomic right-hand design, hyper-fast scrolling and laser tracking.
Logitech's wireless mouse M505 is a compact model with an ergonomically designed, ambidextrous shape and soft rubber grips.
"At Logitech, we're always looking for ways to make life easier," said Rory Dooley, Logitech's senior VP and general manager of the control devices business unit. "With this unique new receiver, now you can pick and choose the mouse and keyboard that work best for you whether you're at the office, at home or on the road."
Expected to be available in the United States and Europe in September, the K350 and K340 keyboards will have a suggested retail of $59.99 and $49.99, respectively.
With expected availability in Europe in August and in the U.S. in early 2010, the Marathon mouse M705 will have a suggested retail of $69.99.
