Cobra To Offer Trucker PND

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 8/3/2009

Cobra Electronics plans September delivery of a personal navigation device (PND) targeted to truckers.

The device will include a database of points of interest specifically aimed at professional drivers. It will also provide routing instructions for trucks whose access to certain roads might be restricted.

Cobra partnered with TruckDown Info International and ProMiles Software Development to develop the database, which includes listings of travel centers, fueling stations, heavy-duty towing services, truck-repair shops, truck-friendly hotels, weigh stations, and the like.

Cobra's PND will be sold at travel centers. The company exited the mainstream PND market in December 2007 but said it would continue to supply specialty GPS devices.
