Boston Ships SR Series

Peabody, Mass. — Boston Acoustics is shipping a new SR Series of drop-in car audio speakers which includes the company's first 5-inch drop-in models.
The six model line replaces the former SL series. Its new 5.25-inch coaxial and component models were added due to retailer feedback, said Boston Acoustics.
The SR series includes three coaxial models with a contoured asymmetrical tweeter baffle that provides reduced distortion and allows a stronger on- and off-axis response, said the company.
The line also has three component models, including the SR60 and SR50, that offer a unique crossover design that can separate and dock together, providing flexibility for tight installations.
The SR60 6.5-inch component speaker with 85-watt power handing and 4-ohm impedance has a $399 suggested retail, as does the 5.25-inch version, the SR 50, also at $399. Other models come in 6- by 9-inch, 5 by 7-inch, 6.5- and 5.25-inch sizes with 75-watt RMS power handling, at $279 to $299.
