Waterfall's Glass Speakers Breaking Into U.S. Market

To cost $54,000 per pair.

Joseph Palenchar -- TWICE, 7/31/2009

Marietta, Ga. - Waterfall Audio is promoting transparent sound and transparent speaker cabinets in a portfolio of glass-cabinet in-room and on-wall speakers, which have been introduced to the U.S. market by AVR Distributing.

Waterfall Audio's $54,000/pair Niagara speaker reflects the views of a pool and Florida's Biscayne Bay.
Waterfall, headquartered in Carces, France, has been selling handcrafted glass speakers in more than 30 countries in Europe and Asia since its founding in 1996. To make the speakers, all named after famous waterfalls, Waterfall uses a proprietary safety-glass fabrication technique to create seamless speakers with invisible corners, the company said. The tower models tuck cabling under the base at floor level to preserve a clean look. The speaker drivers and bases are machined from die-cast aluminum.
The brand's new flagship Niagara tower speaker retails for $54,000 a pair. Other tower speakers include the three-way Victoria EVO and the two-way Iguasçu EVO, named after the falls on the border between Brazil and Argentina.
Sound Performance of Coral Gables, Fla., has been selling Waterfall Audio on special order since 2008 and became the company's first official dealer in the U.S. Clive Eveden, Sound Performance sales and marketing director, said women are the first people drawn to the Niagara speakers, "followed by the men who have been distinctly impressed by their sound."
Interested dealers can contact Dwight Renzema at (864) 569-0184 or dwight@waterfallaudiousa.com.
