Costa Mesa, Calif. - A former Yamaha executive with more than 40 years of technology-company experience launched a consulting company focused on product safety.
Tom Graham, who retired in March as Yamaha's corporate administration VP, started Graham Consulting, whose areas of expertise include product-recall incident analysis, litigation assistance and design/production advice. Graham has also conducted face-to-face meetings with representatives of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Graham's product-safety experience goes back about 30 years when the former executive headed up the product-safety program at GE's consumer electronics division. There, he managed the technical side of defense-strategy development in three situations involving product-safety litigation or potential litigation.
Litigation expertise includes analysis of a product's safety attributes, evaluation of defect claims, user risk assessment, and development of technical documentation to deliver production consistency, the company said.
Graham's CE industry experience includes marketing, sales and product planning positions at a variety of CE companies, including Yamaha, Sherwood, Pioneer, Craig and GE.
