Mount McKinley, Alaska - Siras president Peter Junger is taking his faith in GPS technology to a new height, literally.
Junger is in the process of climbing Alaska's Mount McKinley. He is using a Spot personal locator device, which broadcasts his GPS coordinates so he can be followed via Google Maps.
Anyone wishing to keep track of Junger's progress can click here.
According to a company spokesperson, Junger and his climbing group are expected to reach the summit on July 11. As of July 2 they are somewhere near the 11,000 foot mark.
Junger is an experienced mountaineer and is part of a group of fellow enthusiasts named the Highpointers. The club's mission is to climb the highest peak in each of the 50 states.

I sure hope his SPOT tracker works if he's in trouble. I know of someone who recently had the SPOT tracker on his recent trip to Mt McKinley. There were several days when it could not get a signal and took up to 45 minutes when it did. I do not agree with their slogan "Live to tell about it" 45 minutes may be too late.
