Toshiba Overhauls Satellite Line

Irvine, Calif. — Toshiba’s digital products division revamped all five of its Satellite notebook lines with new models, feature sets and price points.

To attract the value customer, Toshiba has added new features to its L series, with a starting price of $549. These include an HD TruBrite widescreen 720p display and a graphite Fusion Finish case, and Toshiba’s PC


The Satellite U505

Health monitor technology has been pushed down into all of the Satellite models, along with the company’s power-saving utility.

All models are available with a variety of AMD processors, 250GB to 500GB hard drives and memory capacities.

Starting prices for the 14-inch display L500/L505 starts is $549. The 15- and 16-inch L510/L515, along with the 17.3-inch equipped L550/L555, have the same $649 starting price.

The new M-series models, the M500/M505, are available with Intel and AMD processors, 4GB of memory, 250GB or 500GB of storage, DVD SuperDrive and a black onyx finish. Pricing starts at $749.

The A500/A505 is an entertainment-centric design, the company said, with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor T6500 chipset, 4GB of DDR2 memory, 320GB storage and DVD SuperMulti drive with a $749 starting price.

The P500/P505 is centered on an 18.4-inch display and has the same basic feature set as the other models. Its starting price is $799.

The U500/U505 is part of Toshiba’s ultra-portable line with a 13-inch display and an $849 suggested starting price.

Further specifications for the P and U models were not available.
