Guidepoint Offers Teen Tracker

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 6/5/2009

Pontiac, Mich. — Guidepoint is shipping its first GPS car tracker aimed at parents of teenagers and its first tracker targeting 12-volt and other retailers.

The new VTAC-GPS allows users to monitor the speed and location of their vehicle via the Internet. They can set alerts to notify them when the vehicle leaves or reaches a location or when the car exceeds a certain speed. The VTAC also offers stolen-vehicle recovery and emergency dispatch through 24-hour call centers in Texas and Mexico.

“Working moms wondering if the kids have gotten home can get text messages when the car leaves school and when it arrives home,” said VP Brian Edwards.

While Guidepoint has sold GPS devices through expediters and car dealers since 2002, the VTAC-GPS is its first retailer-aimed tracker.

Optional convenience features, such as remote door unlock, car finder or remote start from any computer, may also be added to the system.

The VTAC GPS is available at a suggested retail of $499, including one free year of service. The service fee thereafter is $149/year.
