Epson Ships Newest Photo Printer

By James Willcox -- TWICE, 4/12/1999

Targeting digital photo enthusiasts as well as consumers and small businesses looking for photo-quality color performance and fast print speeds, Epson this week introduces the Stylus Photo 750 inkjet printer, a black-colored model that will sell for $299.

However, since the Stylus Photo 750 is being introduced via mail-order catalogs and distribution, the Stylus Photo 700 ($249) will remain the primary retail photo printer for the company. According to Rajeev Mishra, product manager for consumer integrated solutions, the Stylus Photo 750 will make its way into photo chains, such as Wolf Camera and Ritz Camera.

The 750 has several notable features, including 1,440 x 720 dpi, six-color output, and the smallest -- 6 picoliter -- ink droplets in a photo printer. The 750 can print a 4 x 6-inch photo in one minute, and an 8 x 10-inch photo in just two minutes.

Included are built-in serial, parallel and USB ports, direct camera-to-printer printing capability when used with an Epson digital camera, and a software bundle that features Polaroid PhotoMax Pro, ArcSoft Photo Printer and PhotoBase, and DogByte Greeting Card Store software. The printer also includes a one-year subscription to PhotoLoft.com, a photo-sharing web site.

Mishra says the Stylus Photo 750 will be included in an Epson promotion that offers a $50 rebate to consumers purchasing both an Epson digital camera and printer.
