Magazine Survey Shows HDTV Is A Consumer Hit

By Staff -- TWICE, 10/24/2005

HDTV is a hit with Consumer Reports readers, with 87 percent of 500 consumers surveyed saying that HD signals by cable or satellite offer superior picture quality.

Its Annual Electronics issue, on newsstands through Jan. 8, 2006, also reports that consumer enthusiasm waned when the magazine asked about HD programming. Half of those polled said they don't get enough HD channels on cable or satellite.

The magazine noted that the HDTV viewers' opinions match the magazine's recommendations for the past year or so: Consumers who are at all serious about TV or DVD viewing, who are shopping for a TV they plan to watch often, should consider an HDTV.

The current issue also analyzes choices in digital recording, cable TV vs. satellite, digital cameras and advice on extended warranties for TVs.
