Clayton Named To EchoStar Board

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 10/10/2008

Englewood. Colo. — Joe Clayton, former chairman and CEO of Sirius Satellite Radio, has been named to the board of EchoStar.

Clayton, who as sales and marketing executive VP for Thomson S.A. directed its RCA brand when it introduced DirecTV and drove the early market retail launch the direct broadcast satellite TV service, will serve on the audit, nominating and compensation committees of the board.

Clayton’s addition expands the board from seven to eight members.

Clayton last served as chairman of Sirius Satellite Radio from November 2004 through July 2008 and served as CEO of Sirius from November 2001 through November 2004.

Prior to joining Sirius, Clayton served as president of Global Crossing North America, as president and CEO of Frontier and as sales and marketing executive VP for the Americas and Asia of Thomson S.A.

“We welcome Joe to our board,” stated Charlie Ergen, CEO/chairman of EchoStar. “He brings a great deal of executive-level experience in the satellite industry, and we look forward to working with him as we grow our business.”

EchoStar is the sister company to Dish Network, providing equipment sales, digital broadcast operations and satellite services. The company includes a network of 10 full-service digital broadcast centers and leased fiber-optic capacity with points of presence in approximately 150 cities.

EchoStar also delivers satellite services from eight owned and leased in-orbit satellites and related Federal Communications Commission licenses.
