Sony Ships New Xplod Car Stereo CD Receivers

By Amy GIlroy -- TWICE, 10/8/2007

Sony began shipping four new Xplod car stereo CD receivers, offering more "connectivity" for the dollar compared to last year's line, said the company.

All models have a front-panel auxiliary input for connection to a portable media player.

The new top-end model CDX-GT520 can control an iPod with a $50 adapter, and is satellite radio ready and HD-Radio ready with a $100 HD-Radio adaptor. It also has front, rear and subwoofer preamp outputs at approximately $140.

A step-down model CDX-GT420IP comes with an iPod control cable for full iPod control from the radio (but is not satellite radio or HD-Radio ready) at approximately $130.

Also new is a CDX-320 with iPod, HD Radio and satellite capability with two pre-outs at $100, joined by the CDX-GT120 with similar features but one pre-out at $80.
