'Miracle Remote' Needs No Programming, Has No Codes

Ridgefield, N.J. — In order to simplify remote control use and address the need for an easy-to-use full-function replacement remote, DynatronUSA is making available its Miracle Remote series of remote controls.
The new remotes need no programming, so there are no programming instructions, and there are no codes to enter. “It just works,” said the company. All a customer has to do is put in two AA batteries.
Each Miracle Remote is designed to work just one specific TV brand, and the remote operates just like the original, operating all the key features on televisions made from 1988 to the present, said the company.
The remote also adds improvements for ease of use, such as larger and top-placed, frequently used buttons.
There is a Miracle Remote available to control most major-brand TVs, according to Dynatron. Seven manufacturers are included in the initial Miracle Remote lineup — including Sony, Toshiba, Sharp, JVC, Mitsubishi, Hitachi and Samsung. There also is a model that works with Emerson, Symphonic and Sylvania sets new since 1998. By the end of 2006, Dynatron expects to have a Miracle Remote model for every major TV brand commonly sold in the United States.
The Miracle Remote eliminates the need for a universal remote, which is designed to operate several consumer electronics devices, said the company, and where consumers are required to enter codes with the correct frequency for a television, DVD player, or other CE device.
Dynatron noted that universal remotes are not able to do everything an original remote can do. Yet the company said the Miracle Remote is the only replacement remote that can operate advanced TV features such as picture-in-picture, split screen or picture size. In essence, the new remote is just like the one that came with the television, without having to read instructions or enter codes, said the company.
Dynatron, which bills itself as the largest reseller of OEM remotes in the U.S. market, introduced its Miracle Remote last January. Currently, the unit is being sold on Target.com and in 6th Avenue Electronics stores, said the company. Suggested retail is $24.95.
