Dell, Chambers Join CES Keynote Lineup

By Steve Smith -- TWICE, 9/7/2006

Arlington, Va. — The promotional drumbeat for the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is in full swing with the show’s producer, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), announcing some of the keynote speakers for its 40th anniversary show, to be held in Las Vegas Jan. 8-11.

Michael Dell, founder and chairman of Dell, will kick off day two with his company's first CES keynote address on Jan. 9, at 9 a.m. All keynotes for the 2007 show will take place in the Venetian’s Palazzo Ballroom.

“CES and our attendees are fortunate to have the brightest and most innovative minds in technology and content delivering keynote addresses at this year’s show,” said Gary Shapiro, president/CEO of CEA. “Michael Dell has made his mark by finding innovative ways to bring technology and content into the daily lives of consumers across the globe. CES attendees will benefit from his entrepreneurial vision and big-picture thinking.”

Cisco Systems’ president/CEO John Chambers will deliver an Industry Insider address at the CES. Chambers' address is slated for Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Las Vegas Hilton Theater, home to the entire Industry Insiders Series for the 2007 show.

“John Chambers is an industry innovator with a clear vision for the future of the connected consumer. Under Chambers’ direction, Cisco continues to serve as the lead provider of networking solutions connecting consumers, businesses and government leaders across the globe,” said Shapiro. “We are thrilled to have John at CES as a highlighted speaker, since his previous appearances, including his 1999 CES keynote address, were very popular and well-received. We look forward to hearing John's views on the evolution of consumer connectivity at the 2007 International CES.”

Dell and Chambers joins other confirmed CES keynoters, Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Motorola’s Ed Zander and Disney’s Robert Iger, as part of the 2007 International CES keynote lineup.

The 2007 International CES will feature product introductions from 2,700 exhibitors, covering more than 30 product areas, including the latest in wireless, digital imaging, mobile electronics, home networking and audio.
