Electronics Expo To Open Two New Stores

By Steve Smith -- TWICE, 4/19/2006

Scottsdale, Ariz. — Electronics Expo, the three-year-old New Jersey-based specialty chain, is planning to open two more stores by the end of the year in its home state.

Leon Temiz, president/CEO of the chain, who is attending the PRO Group spring meeting, being held here this week, said a new store will open in East Brunswick during the third quarter similar in size to the chain’s other 16,000 square foot facilities. A seventh New Jersey store is also expected to open by the fourth quarter. Temiz did not disclose its location, since negotiations are still on going for the property.

Temiz said that Electronic Expo, which has annual sales of $73 million for calendar year 2005 and is hoping to soon hit $100 million, is emphasizing higher-end audio/video products and custom installation now.

“We are cutting portables and mini-systems and emphasizing more upscale displays. Our stores are being renovated now with rosewood walls and that may only display five or six flat-panel displays.”

Bose and Sony store-within-store displays of 700 square feet to 1,000 square feet each will also be part of the new locations.

The chain, based in West Caldwell, N.J., will plans to intensify its efforts in upscale custom installations, according to Temiz.
