Battery Technology Increases Notebook Cell Shelf Life

By Staff -- TWICE, 9/26/2005

A battery for the latest Hewlett-Packard notebook, from Battery Technology, has an upgraded circuit board for increased shelf life, and is designed to hold a charge for 12 months. Model HP-DV1000 is a replacement for lithium-ion batteries for both HP and Compaq notebooks.

The six-cell lithium ion battery offers 11.1 volts and has a 4400mAh capacity. It weighs 0.7 pounds and has a suggested retail of $129.99.

According to Battery Technology, with this battery, retailers should be able to “drastically” reduce the number of returns from batteries that die while sitting on their shelves for more than six months.
