Logitech Unveils Its 1st Wireless Stereo VoIP Headset

By Lisa Johnston -- TWICE, 3/10/2008

Logitech unveiled last week the company's first wireless stereo headset designed for Internet calling with a PC. The ClearChat PC Wireless headset debuted at CeBIT, a trade show for digital IT and telecommunications products, here.

The ClearChat PC Wireless headset is engineered to combine high-performance stereo audio with 2.4GHz wireless technology, allowing users to make VoIP calls without wires.

Users can move freely up to 33 feet from their computer, said the company, and an included USB transmitter enables the headset to connect to a computer "right out of the box — no software or pairing required." The 2.4 GHz wireless technology is meant to provide crisp, uncompressed stereo audio along with an advanced algorithm that minimizes interference.

Other features include proprietary laser-tuned audio drivers, a noise-canceling microphone on a flexible boom, volume and microphone mute controls located on the right earpiece, and the ability to automatically mute the phone when the mike is rotated to an upright position. A padded headband is included with plush ear pads.

The headset is engineered to work with popular Internet calling applications, including Skype, Windows Live, Yahoo!, Google Talk and AIM. It is scheduled for May availability for a $99.99 suggested retail.
