Staff -- TWICE, 1/6/2001

LAS VEGAS -Sony is showing the first car audio Memory Stick receivers in its Advanced Audio Entertainment display.

The initial "concept models" will include a CD receiver with flip-down, detachable faceplate, a Memory stick changer and a Memory Stick adapter that can plug into a head unit. Memory Stick is a flash-memory storage format with capacities ranging from 4MB to 128MB.

Also on display will be a prototype mass-storage in-dash receiver that holds the equivalent of more than 100 CDs in a single-DIN unit.

To demonstrate its fervor for marketing to Generation Y (ages 16 to 25) through its Xplod series, Sony has converted its booth into a village called Xplodville, which will include a shop selling Xplod gear.
