CES 2009: D-Link Unveils Media Center Extender
By Staff -- TWICE, January 9, 2009
LAS VEGAS — D-Link is officially introducing its previously announced DSM-750 Medialounge Media Center Extender along with several other networking devices at booth 36212 in the South Hall.
The Medialounge uses dual-band draft 802.11n wireless networking, which allows for the streaming of HD content. The design has no moving parts allowing for quiet operation, and it comes with a remote control, a TV user interface, a USB 2.0 and an Ethernet port.
"The DSM-750 is our most powerful media player yet," said Daniel Kelley, marketing director of D-Link Systems. "Microsoft's Extender for Windows Media Center changes the way we navigate and view the Internet, offering more than 21 content providers — including sports, movies and other entertainment. When paired with our DSM-750, it offers consumers the ultimate experience in digital home entertainment."
As with all Media Center Extenders, the DSM-750 allows content to be streamed from a home's computer to a television and the host computer.
The Medialounge is now shipping with a $349 suggested retail price.
The company is also introducing two draft 802.11n routers with the DGL-4500 Xtreme N gaming router specialized for the gaming market. The DGL-4500 is equipped with an updated version of D-Link's GameFuel technology. GameFuel is an intelligent packet processing engine that gives priority to online gaming data and helps eliminate lag while gaming.
The DGL-4500 also comes with a network advisory display that allows the gamers to monitor their network's performance to ensure optimal playing conditions.
The Xtreme N gaming router is now available direct from D-Link and its retailers for $239.
The final piece in D-Link's International CES offering is the DIR-655 Xtreme N family of products. The router's features include:
-
three by three antenna configuration for higher performance;
-
sleek white design that blends in with modern digital home entertainment centers;
-
Quick Adapter Setup Wizard for easy installation;
