SanDisk Files Suit Against Viking For Patent Infringement

By Greg Scoblete -- TWICE, 5/21/2001

SAN FRANCISCO — SanDisk has announced that it has filed suit in U.S. District Court, here, against Viking Components for patent infringement.

SanDisk is seeking damages and an injunction preventing Viking from making, selling or importing all Viking CompactFlash cards that use controllers found to infringe on SanDisk's U.S. Patent No. 5,602,987 in a previous lawsuit filed by SanDisk against rival Lexar Media.

SanDisk said that it initiated the proceedings against Viking Components after discovering that Viking's CompactFlash cards use the same controllers. The company is seeking past damages and an injunction against further sales of the Viking CompactFlash cards in question.
