American Bass Bows Woofers

By Staff -- TWICE, 11/5/2007

American Bass, based in Cleveland, introduced at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show two new subwoofers, an active crossover and a "digital bass machine."

The new woofers, models SQ 1044 and SQ 1244, are 4-ohm units with dual voice coils in 10-inch and 12-inch sizes. They ship at the end of October at suggested retails of $129 and $149, respectively. Also new is a three-way electronic crossover, model ABX-3.1R, and a sound processor, ABX-2.1R "bass machine," which boosts the input voltage of a car radio up to 10 volts and improves bass response, said the company. The ABX3R and ABX2R also ship in October at suggested retails of $149 and $229, respectively.

American Bass has been a regional brand and is expanding to a national level. It sells amplifiers, speakers and electronic accessories to more than 200 retailers. Woofers range in price from $89 to $1,200.
