Audiobahn Bows Head Unit With CF

BREA, Calif. — Audiobahn is launching its first head unit line this summer that includes a CD player with an outboard reader for CompactFlash cards.
The new A3851 is an in-dash AM/FM/CD player with DVD-changer controls and MP3 playback. It can accept a plug-in CompactFlash card reader so users can playback music that has been stored on a CompactFlash card. Other features of the 3851 include built-in 50 watt by 4 power, 5-volt RCA pre-outs and subwoofer outputs. Audiobahn's top-of-the-line unit also has a motorized, flip-down display with three-color, full-motion animation. Suggested retail price is $999.
Product development manager Daniel Jones said the company is developing outboard readers for other storage cards or a combination of cards.
Audiobahn said it is entering the head-unit market to offer a high-end alternative for distributors. Many high-end lines are not available to distributors.
Audiobahn's new line also includes an in-dash AM/FM/DVD with 7-inch monitor. Expected to ship in August, the model A8351 comes with MP3 and bass boost as well as 50 watt by 4 power, 5-volt pre-outs and subwoofer outputs. Suggested retail price is $1,800. Also available is an in-dash AM/FM/CD with 7-inch screen that can control a DVD or CD changer at $1,399.
Audiobahn's in-dash CD line starts at a suggested retail price of $449.
