Targus Targets iPod Security With Three New Lock Models

Anaheim, Calif. — Three new security locks for the iPod are available from Targus, including the Mobile security lock which is described by the company as the only theft protection solution currently available that can be used while on-the-go. The other two locks introduced include the Desktop security lock and the Eyelet security lock.
Offering a keyless, user-settable three-digit combination, the new Targus security locks are engineered for use with iPods configured with a dock connector, including the 5G, 4G, 3G, nano, Photo and Mini.
The Mobile security lock features a compact case that houses the retractable cable and combination lock. Users can loop the cable around the strap of a backpack, purse or briefcase, or other stationary object, insert the combination lock through the opening in the case, and then attach the lock to their iPod. Available in black, the Mobile Security Lock for iPod measures 1.8 inches by 4.2 inches by 0.6 inches, and weighs 2.8 ounces. It has a suggested retail of $39.
Packing a 6.5-foot galvanized black steel cable, the Desktop security lock is designed to secure the iPod to any stationary object. It is available in black, weighs 5.5 ounces and has a $29 suggested retail.
The Eyelet security lock can be used with any notebook cable lock to secure the iPod and notebook together, according to the company. It attaches to the iPod's dock connector, and the cable from the notebook lock is threaded through the Eyelet lock's pass-through loop and then fastened to the notebook to secure both devices simultaneously. Available in black and constructed of galvanized steel, the lock measures 5.5 inches by 1.2 inches by 0.5 inches and weighs 2 ounces. It has a suggested retail of $19.
