Sharp Reveals AQUOS Price Cuts

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 6/19/2007

Mahwah, N.J. – Sharp on Monday removed minimum advertised pricing (MAP) policies from select D62U series models of AQUOS LCD TVs as it moves to clear out inventory to prepare for the August arrival of a new model line, the company said.

At the same time, Sharp reduced MAP pricing by $200 on each of its models in the D82 and D92 AQUOS lines and by $100 on each model in the D72 series, according to Bruce Tripido, Sharp entertainment products marketing associate VP.

“The D72, D82 and D92 price moves are in response to market competition,” a Sharp spokesperson told TWICE.

The spokesperson could not disclose additional information on the replacement line to the D62U series at this time.

Amazon.com on Tuesday showed the following reduced prices on D62U series AQUOS LCD TVs. All but the 32-inch (LC-32D62U, now $1,399 MAP) and 37-inch (LC-37D62U, now $1,699 MAP) models have been removed from Sharp's MAP pricing policies:

  • LC-42D62U - $1,479, down 36 percent from the $2,299.99 MSRP.

  • LC-46D62U - $1,824, down 39 percent from the $2,999.99 MSRP.

  • LC-52D62U - $2,661.45, down 33 percent from the $3,999.99 MSRP.

The following is a list of adjusted MSPRs and MAPs on affected D92U, D82U and D72U series models:

  • LC-52D92U - $4,599.99 MSRP; $4,299.99 MAP

  • LC-46D92U - $3,499.99 MSRP; $3,299.99 MAP

  • LC-52D82U - $4,199.99 MSRP; $3,899.99 MAP
