Lenmar Recharger Provides Dual Charging Areas

Staff -- TWICE, 1/6/2005

Lenmar Enterprises is featuring its Fushion-USB Mach 1 Speed Charger at CES. The unit, which integrates a USB-type power port, allows consumers to charge AA/AAA/nickel metal-hydride (NIMH) or lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries in the main recharge area while recharging another device such as a cellphone, PDA or MP3 through the USB-type power port.

Called a charger that “does it all, and does it all at the same time,” the Fushion-USB charger comes standard with adapter plates for Li-Ion batteries for Sony and Canon camcorders and digital cameras, and AA/AAA batteries, plus a set of two NoMEMPro 2000mAh AA NiMH cells.

A cable and various connector tips designed to fit the most common cellular phones also are supplied for connectivity to the USB-type power port.

The charger is designed to deliver a rapid charge without overcharging, and to stabilize battery temperature as it charges to prevent overheating and extend battery life up to five times longer than most charging systems, said Lenmar. Digital camera and camcorder batteries can be charged in 30 minutes and up to four AA/AAA batteries in about one hour.

Suggested retail is $139.95, with shipping just beginning.

A Mach 1 Lightening 15-Minute SpeedCharger addresses consumer concerns about using a charger that works only with the batteries from the same maker, or spending more for “special” batteries. This unit charges AA/AAA NiMH cells from any manufacturer, eliminating hard-to-find, premium-priced special purchase, said Lenmar.

The SpeedCharger from the Camarillo, Calif.-based company includes four Lenmar AA NoMEMPro 2000mAh batteries, LED status indicators, international voltage support and a car cigarette lighter adapter. Shipping has begun at a $52.95 suggested retail.
