XM Included in Vista; Extends Honda Partnership

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 1/30/2007

Washington — XM Satellite Radio announced that XM Radio Online will be included in Microsoft’s new Windows Vista operating system that is being released to most major outlets today. Separately, the company also announced an extended partnership with Honda until 2016.

Vista will include more than 80 XM Radio channels, including commercial-free music, the Oprah & Friends channel, “The Bob Edwards Show,” “Opie & Anthony,” and comedy and children’s programming.

Web users can receive a three-day free trial and then sign up for $7.99 per month. Current XM subscribers can listen online at no additional charge, XM said.

“By working with Microsoft, we are expanding the availability of XM Radio Online,” said XM marketing programs and operations senior VP My-Chau Nguyen.

XM, which is the exclusive satellite radio provider to Honda, also announced a new 10-year agreement with the car maker. Honda plans to produce 650,000 factory-installed XM units in the 2007 model year, and by the close of the year it expects to have produced more than 1.5 million cars equipped with XM since 2003, said XM.
