Sleek Audio Seeks Audiophiles With SA6 Earphones

By Lisa Johnston -- TWICE, 4/7/2008

Mark and Jason Krywko, the father-son team of Sleek Audio, bring their earphone experience from devices for the hearing impaired, but they insist the SA6 earphones are for all music listeners.

The SA6 adjustable earphones are a "three-year labor of love," said Jason Krywko, VP, in a recent telephone interview with TWICE. Sleek Audio launched at the 2008 International CES. Mark and Jason bring a combined 40 years experience in the audio and custom hearing-aid industries, and they describe themselves as lifelong music lovers.

"It's the audiophile company that's going nuts over [the SA6]," said Jason. Mark, CEO of the company, described the target audience as "anybody who wants to listen to music the way they want to hear it."

The SA6 use an ultra-wide balanced single armature driver that produces multiple driver performance and provides "environmental sound control." The single-driver design is something the Krywkos are especially proud of. "Even though it's a single driver, we're getting sound response that triple drivers have," said Mark.

Although the earphones can be adjusted for the preferred sound experience, "When you take it out of the package, it's where 90 percent of the people would want to have it," Mark said. Frequency levels can be adjusted by adding bass and treble tuning ports. In the future, according to the company, users will be able to operate the earphones wirelessly by adding an accessory that is scheduled to be rolled out in the summer.

The SA6 are listed with an impedance of 60 ohms, a DC resistance of 24 ohms and a sensitivity of 110 dB SPL/mW.

It retails for a suggested $249 and is currently available.
