HP To Offer BD/HD DVD PC Drive

Hewlett-Packard will begin offering Blu-ray/HD DVD drives as an option on select PCs it offers on www.hpshopping.com starting May 9.

The new drive will read BD, HD DVD, DVD and CDs and write to all media types except HD DVD. HP will not release the pricing for the drive option until it is officially available online on May 9.

HP also unveiled several additional computing options to view high-definition programming on its PCs. These include the Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600, ATI TV Wonder digital cable tuner and the Nvidia, GeForce 8800 graphics card. The latter features 640MB of native memory.
