Azio Powers Cellphone By USB Power

By Staff -- TWICE, 11/21/2005

Computer peripherals designer and maker Azio is offering the USB phone charger, which allows users to power their phones using a computer or laptop by simply plugging the phone into a USB port.

The charger is designed for the road warrior, traveler or student who lacks ease of access to public outlets and who doesn't want to worry about the varying voltage requirements of different countries. In addition, users can benefit from no longer being forced to carry a large and cumbersome transformer-type charger — the type that typically comes with a cellphone.

Azio positions its product as the first phone charger to market that powers a cell by USB power. Shipping is scheduled for the holidays at a suggested $12.95.
