Gateway Names New Board Member

Irvine, Calif. — Gateway today appointed Dave Russell to the company’s board of directors.

The appointment is connected to a deal Gateway struck late last year with Firebrand Partners, a major Gateway stockholder, which would place an additional member to the board that was approved by the company and Firebrand.

Russell is executive VP of Avalon Capital Group and managing director of Avalon Energy. Avalon Energy is a division of Avalon Capital Group, Inc., a private company controlled by Ted Waitt, the co-founder and a significant stockholder of Gateway. Prior to joining Avalon in 2005, Russell held a variety of positions at Gateway including general manager of digital television products from June 2003 to June 2004, senior VP of partner management from January 2001 to May 2003, and VP of supply management from 1999 to May 2000.
