Samsung Rolls Out HD End-Cap Displays

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 7/21/2008

Samsung is now rolling out new in-store displays to more than 2,000 national and regional retail outlets across North America to help inform and educate shoppers to the choices available in HD entertainment for their homes and lifestyles.

The modular, eco-friendly end-cap displays invite consumers to experience Samsung HD products, including new Touch of Color (ToC) flat-panel HDTVs and home theater system, Samsung said. The displays are designed to be reused to feature the new products, promotions and information in the future.

"Samsung hopes to help consumers immediately recognize, right at the point of purchase, the true benefits of HD for their home, while providing consumers a number of options and total solutions to make HD a part of their lives," stated Tim Baxter, Samsung Electronics sales and marketing executive VP. "Samsung is proud to offer cohesive display models that not only tout our latest product designs and promotions, but can also adjust to the specific requirements and preferences of our various retail partners."

The end-cap displays are tailored to the needs of each retailer, and they showcase a combination of Samsung home theater products, including the Series 5, 6 and 7 LCD HDTVs; the latter two ToC accents; BD-P1500 Blu-ray Disc player; HT-X710 2.1-channel home theater system with ToC; and HT-AS720 home theater receiver and speaker system.

Samsung said it used a variety of recycled materials to construct its new end-caps. The particleboard and MDF pieces omit harmful formaldehyde, while all styrene components are made from 100 percent recycled stock. The wood base and various metal sections are powder-coated rather than painted with sprays and solvents, and all Plexiglas sections feature up to 15 percent recycled content. The display is also modular, allowing much of the display elements to be reused to feature new products and new information.
