Top Majap Dealers Boost Sales 9.5%

Home improvement channel racks up gains at expense of traditional dealers

By Staff -- TWICE, 6/9/2003

Despite a tough retail environment, the 100 largest major appliance dealers in the land managed to boost their white goods sales 9.5 percent in 2002 to a record $15.2 billion, handily outpacing CE's rate of growth.

That was the good news coming out of this year's TWICE Top 100 Appliance Retailers ranking.

The bad news, for everyone except Lowe's and The Home Depot, is that much of that growth was in the home improvement channel, which now claims more than one out of every four dollars spent on appliances.

This year's Top 100 report begins on p. 24.
