WAYNE, N.J. — JVC will ship this month a new $99 entry-level CD receiver, joining a number of key suppliers who will offer sub-$100 units for the first time.
"It's a basic piece in reaction to what some manufacturers started doing this year and what we expect the market to bring for '04," said Aaron Novak, national product planning supervisor. The new model, KDS5050, has a detachable face and a single set of line output terminals.
JVC is also shipping a few other models this month, prior to its general 2004 launch. These include the KDG200 CD receiver (suggested $119 retail) that adds a large rotary encoder, CDRW compatibility, more power and a blue display cosmetic, the company said.
In its specialty Arsenal line, JVC will add the KDAR200. It has a black finish, gold-plated line-out terminals and a remote control. It also comes with a two-year warranty at an estimated price of $129.
