Antec Introduces Green Power Supply Units

By Staff -- TWICE, 12/18/2006

Antec has started shipping an environmentally friendly line of power supplies under the EarthWatts name.

The EarthWatts line's green approach stems from its low power usage and by eliminating hazardous materials in the unit's construction, the company said.

The three Earthwatts models, rated at 380W, 300W and 500W and costing between $64 and $99, and are 80 Plus compliant, meaning the computer and power supply unit is at least 80 percent efficient at various power loads, which helps reduce the amount of power needed to run and cool the computer. The line also meets the Restrictions of Hazardous Substances requirements that ensures mercury and lead are not used in the manufacturing process.
